The Vancity Affordable Community Housing Program is growing!  Come learn about how the Program is seeking to scale across Canada.

The program provides early-stage grants and flexible low-cost financing to not-for-profit, co-operative, First Nation and Indigenous organizations to support affordable rental housing development in Southwestern BC.

Seeded by Vancity credit union, the program’s loan fund has grown to $25 million by leveraging funds from public and private social impact investors seeking to make a positive impact in their communities by preserving and expanding affordable housing while also generating a return on their capital. To date, the fund has helped support the development and acquisition of 5658 affordable homes, deploying $39 million in loans to 76 unique projects.

Based on the Program’s success in BC, the Vancity Community Foundation is seeking to expand the Program across Canada by collaborating with Canadian Credit Union’s and social impact investors.
