Mike joined CC&L Private Capital in 2003 and has worked in the investment management industry for over 25 years. His prior work experience includes Mackenzie Financial Corporation, CIBC Securities Inc. and Procter & Gamble Inc. Mike understands the importance to clients of tailored solutions that meet their unique situations, and his knowledge spans a wide range of asset classes, from traditional to alternative, including alternative fixed income, real estate, infrastructure, private loans, private equity and hedge strategies. Mike’s business passions include helping clients with alternative and socially responsible investing, strategic philanthropy, and sourcing expansion and succession capital for their businesses.

Mike is also very active in charitable pursuits, and is a strategic philanthropic advisor with the Master Financial Advisor – Philanthropy (MFA-P) Designation. Mike has been involved with St. Michael’s Hospital Foundation for over 18 years, where he is a founding member of The President’s Council, and leads the Professional Advisor Task Force for Planned Giving as the Inaugural Chair. Mike is also on the Major Individual Giving Cabinet of The United Way of Toronto, and is a founding member of the SickKids Professional Advisors Council. Mike prides himself on helping his clients establish their own philanthropic legacies, by advising them and their families to maximize the impact that their donation dollars can have.

Along with his family, Mike has established The Flux Foundation with a goal of driving positive change in our shared community. The Flux Foundation has a social purpose of leaving much good behind, in particular in the areas of poverty alleviation and health care. The Flux Family has also provided key funding to build and establish The McElwain Educational Institute in Sri Lanka in support of the 2004 tsunami relief efforts, and furthering education in the area.

Mike is a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) charterholder and a registered Portfolio Manager (Advising Representative). His other designations and degrees include Certified Financial Planner (CFP); Canadian Investment Manager (CIM); Master Financial Advisor – Philanthropy (MFA-P); BComm Honors, Queen's University (1995); MBA, Edinburgh Business School (2008).
