Sue’s 30-year international development career focussed on the intersection of gender and finance, following her economics PhD on women and microfinance.  In a grant-making capacity, she supported seminal research and NGO programming on women’s economic empowerment while with Aga Khan Foundation Canada and later the International Development Research Centre.  Sue’s multiple roles in the federal public service included leading Canada’s participation in the ground-breaking Advance Market Commitment for pneumococcal vaccines, and at Global Affairs Canada, shaping Canada’s $5.3 billion climate finance commitment and new $1.6 billion innovative finance program. Sue was the first female co-chair of the Board of the Green Climate Fund, and contributed to the COP26 report of the Women in Finance Climate Action Group.  Following her retirement from Global Affairs in 2023, Sue is now an avid hatha yoga student, teacher and volunteer.
